TransCanada is contributing 24 sections of large-diameter pipe to the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA) training facilities in Toronto, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Sarnia, Montreal, Miramichi and Dartmouth. Toronto’s UA Local 46 was the first recipient of the donated pipe in this mutually beneficial collaboration between TransCanada and UA Canada as they prepare to provide hundreds of skilled welders, journeymen and apprentices the opportunity to hone their welding skills with hands-on training on 42-inch sections of pipe. The students and staff of Bella Bella Community School (in British Columbia) are standing together in opposition to the proposed Enbridge Pipeline that would bring supertankers filled with oil along the coast of the Great Bear Rainforest, jeopardizing the environment upon which we rely for sustenance, both physical and spiritual. They asked that we join them in 48-hour hunger strike from April 1st at 4 pm to April 3rd at 4 pm to coincide with the NEB Joint Review Panel hearings in their community.
